Polish Film Festival in Perth is pleased to announce the start of its 2nd annual film festival organised in Perth. The 2016 event will be held at Cinema Paradiso from 16 June to 3 July 2016.
After the success of the inaugural Polish Film Festival in Perth last year, the 2016 event brings another exciting program full of recent releases that will please a diverse audience.
The 2nd Polish Film Festival in Perth (PFFP) will open on Thursday 16 June. The 2016 event will kick off with the screening of a heart warming comedy-drama about the strength of family ties, THESE DAUGHTERS OF MINE.
The film tells the story of two sisters who are poles apart and absent from each others’ lives, but faced with illness of their parents are slowly getting closer to each other. Showered with prizes at major film festivals, including the Audience Award and Journalists’ Award at the 2015 Polish Academy Awards in Gdynia, the production by writer and director Kinga Dębska is a wonderfully presented piece of cinema. Starring in the film is renowned Polish actress Agata Kulesza, known to the Australian audience for her role in IDA, 2015 Oscar winner in the Best Foreign Film category.
Highlights of this year’s program also include a smash hit of 2016 PLANET SINGLE and WALPURGIS NIGHT, an outstanding feature debut by Marcin Bortkiewicz with brilliant performance by Małgorzata Zajączkowska. Screening alongside them are the award-wining thriller THE RED SPIDER, the box office stand out that scored the best opening of a Polish film in 30 years LETTERS TO SANTA 2, and a drama with Poland’s favourite actor, Tomasz Kot, LIFE MUST GO ON.
